Is economics a science?
 
Too many in governments today act as if the predictions of economists are sure or close to it. Economist John Kenneth Galbraith said:
 
"The primary purpose of economic forecasting is to make astrology look respectable."
 
Note that he said "look respectable" rather than "respectable."
 
Also note that he didn't think the primary purpose was to accurately predict.
