The Arrogance Problem

Through history, being educated meant knowing the thoughts and contributions of the greatest minds, artists, scientists, historians, creators and leaders that came before.

Only in the past century did the definition change to mean specialized training in one area of expertise.

It would be arrogant to believe that we moderns are so advanced, so superior to all humans in history that our definition is better than theirs or that we've reached a point in history where our leaders and citizens don't need to educated in the wisdom of the past.

Yet this is precisely the majority viewpoint today.

Arrogance has always been a sign of impending crisis ahead.
