We can learn a lot about freedom by understanding how Marx
wanted to establish communism.
Six of his ten planks of establishing communism
were:
"5. Centralization of credit in the hands of the state, by
means of a national bank with state capital and an exclusive monopoly.
6. Centralization of the means of communication and
transport in the hands of the state [by direct control of regulation of these
sectors].
7. Extension of factories and instruments of production
owned by the state....
8. ...Establishment of industrial armies [state supported
labor unions]....
9. Combination of agriculture with manufacturing
industries....
10. Free education for all children in public schools."
Sound familiar?
This should be a serious concern to modern
citizens who care about freedom.
Every step the government takes in this
direction is a step away from freedom.
In fairness, Marx did ask for, "Abolition of children's
factory labor..."
We should adopt good ideas no matter their source.
