Freedom and Chance
Neitzsche said that "No victor believes in chance."
Neither
does any truly free people.
Those who earn their freedom deeply understand how
freedom works.
They know exactly why they are free.
If the people wonder, or if
they are confused, frustrated or upset with their nation or its leaders, they
don't fully understand the principles of freedom.
Those who understand them set
out to implement them, and they know exactly what to do.
Those who are unsure
get caught up in frustration and blame.
Thus, if we are frustrated, it is time
to study freedom more deeply.
Until we know, with well-informed conviction, our
actions will fail.
This is the reality behind the poem by William Yeats Butler:
Things
fall apart; the centre cannot hold...
The
blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The
ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The
best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are
full of passionate intensity.
