Orwell's World in 2011

The following recently appeared in The Economist:
"'Some citizens have expressed discomfort at living in not a safer society but a 'surveillance society',' said Sam Palmisano, the boss of IBM, in a speech....He cited a newspaper article recounting that there are now 32 closed-circuit cameras within 200 yards of the London flat in which George Orwell wrote his book 1984."
For anyone who has read 1984, this is a serious wake-up call.

If you haven't read it, you should. It's a terrible book and its message is timely and profound right now.
